Cadex a company that offers device that analyses batteries for Smartphones and other devices offers us some tips on how to prolong our smartphone's battery life via its educational website Battery University.
Tip 1: Don't let your phone run out of juice before plugging it in
We used to think that it is best to fully deplete our battery before we charge it right back up again. But according to the experts, a deep discharge where we run our battery down to a fraction of its power is actually bad for it's health and will wear them out quicker. So try to avoid running your battery to the 'red' low level before charging.
We are used to plugging in our phones for a long, overnight charge. But the experts say charging frequently and in small amounts might actually be the best option for your battery's health. It doesn't matter if you only top up the charge by 10% or 20% as the partial charges cause no harm.
According to the experts, the optimal point to maintain our phone's power is between 65% and 75% of the battery's full charge.
Though it may not seem intuitive, the experts advice that we should never charge our phones fully up to 100%. This is because modern lithium-ion batteries do not need to be fully charged as a high voltage stresses the battery.
